Amaravati, December 25, 2025: South Central Railway has extended the popular Dhone-Guntur passenger service on both sides. The train, previously numbered 17227/17228 and running between Dhone and Guntur via Nandyal, is now renumbered 17282/17281 and operates from Dharmavaram to Narsapur.
The expanded route passes through Gooty, Guntakal, Dhone, Nandyal, Guntur, and Vijayawada. It departs Dharmavaram at 4:30 a.m. and arrives in Narsapur at 8:30 p.m. The return trip leaves Narsapur at 6:15 a.m. and reaches Dharmavaram at 12:30 a.m. the next day.
The change addresses long-standing demands from Nandyal district commuters. Local MPs, including Nandyal MP Byreddy Shabari, had pressed railway officials in Vijayawada for better services. This extension follows recent additions like a new morning train linking Guntakal and Nandyal.
