Amaravati, December 24, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has directed the Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation (MMC) Commissioner to handle the occupancy certificate application for the YSR Congress Party's (YSRCP) district office in Machilipatnam impartially and strictly according to law.

A Division Bench, led by Chief Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur, heard an appeal after a single judge earlier ruled that authorities must issue the certificate. Municipal officials cited deviations from the approved building plan and possible drainage issues as reasons for delay. YSRCP's Krishna district president Perni Nani, who filed the petition, claimed political motives behind the hold-up. The Bench noted that minor violations, if any, should allow rectification rather than outright denial.

The court instructed Perni Nani to file a fresh written application within four days, including all relevant building permission documents, with a copy to the MMC's standing counsel. The Commissioner must then review and decide based on statutory rules.
