Amaravati, December 23, 2025: Tirupati district police have ramped up efforts against drunk driving. Officials distributed multiple breath analyser kits to each highway patrol team on Tuesday. These tools will help check motorcyclists and cars on 10 national and 13 state highways.

This year, road accidents in the district claimed 500 lives and injured 1,300 people. Police will register cases against violators, suspend licences for six months, and link more responsibility to intoxication. Authorities also plan barricades and signs at 40 accident-prone spots.
