Amaravati, December 23, 2025: Officials have started a new survey to end a fishing rights row between groups in East Godavari and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema districts. The fight centers on collecting wild prawn seed in the Godavari river at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram.

Fishermen from Dowleswaram won this year's lease from the fisheries department. The Bobbarlanka group objected, saying it blocks their access. Joint collectors from both districts met today and directed survey, irrigation, and fisheries teams to map exact borders by December 30.
