Amaravati, December 23, 2025: Narasaraopet Rural Police in Palnadu district arrested four members of a nine-person gang late Sunday night. The group took vehicles as loan pledges, then refused returns after repayment.

They swapped registration numbers, fitted fake plates, and kept using or selling the cars. Police recovered 20 vehicles three en route to sale and 17 from hideouts plus spare fake plates.

The racket surfaced after a Vijayawada resident complained his car remained misused post-loan clearance. Authorities continue probing the full network. Such scams highlight risks in informal lending, pushing calls for stricter vehicle finance checks statewide. As digital tracking grows, similar frauds may decline, protecting owners and boosting trust in local transactions.
