Amaravati, December 23, 2025: The Yonex-Sunrise 78th Inter-State Inter-Zonal and 87th Senior National Badminton Championships began on December 22 at Chennupati Ramakotaiah Indoor Stadium in Vijayawada.
Organised by the Andhra Pradesh Badminton Association, the seven-day event runs through December 28 and features elite players from across India, such as Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth. It marks the state's first senior nationals hosting in ten years, with Rs 60 lakh in prize money up for grabs.
Local leaders inaugurated the tournament, highlighting efforts to build "Kreeda Andhra Pradesh" through new sports policies and infrastructure.
