Amaravati, December 23, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Forest Department teams up with experts to count waterbirds in Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary and nearby areas. This marks the 10th such effort here and aligns with the global International Waterbird Census.

Teams will track key migratory visitors, including the endangered Indian Skimmer and Great Knot, plus the near-threatened Eurasian Curlew and Eurasian Oystercatcher. These birds flock to the estuary each winter for feeding. The site stands out as one of few in India where Indian Skimmers and Great Knots appear together. Local birdwatchers can join the two-day event.
