Newsroom, December 23, 2025: A mob killed Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu factory worker, in Bhaluka, Mymensingh district, on December 18. Colleagues and outsiders accused him of blasphemy during a workplace argument. Supervisors pushed him out, where the crowd beat him fatally, tied his body to a tree on a highway, and set it ablaze. Authorities found no evidence of offensive remarks or social media posts.

The attack coincided with protests over a student leader's death, heightening tensions. Bangladesh's interim government condemned the act and reported 12 arrests. India's leaders, including Andhra Pradesh's deputy chief minister, voiced concern for regional ties and minority protection.
