Newsroom, December 23, 2025: A mob attacked 25-year-old Dipu Chandra Das outside his factory in Mymensingh district on December 18. Accusers claimed he insulted religious sentiments during a workplace debate. Investigators found no evidence of any offending social media post or statement. The crowd beat him severely, hanged his body from a tree, and set it on fire.

Rapid Action Battalion and police made the arrests by December 21. The interim government condemned the act and vowed no tolerance for such violence. The incident occurred during nationwide protests over a student leader's death, fueling broader minority concerns since last year's political shift.
