Amaravati, December 23, 2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu ordered officials to establish dedicated de-addiction centres in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati.

The move targets the growing threat of ganja and other drugs across the state's coastal, capital, and southern regions. Naidu stressed tough enforcement alongside large-scale public awareness drives, saying he will join regional campaigns himself.

Recent crackdowns have shown progress in curbing supply, but demand persists, hitting youth hard. These centres aim to provide treatment and counselling closer to communities. As Gen Z faces peer pressure and stress, accessible help could cut relapse rates and rebuild lives, paving the way for a healthier workforce.
