Amaravati, December 23, 2025: The state government launched Targeted Imaging for Fetal Anomalies (TIFFA) scan facilities in seven secondary hospitals across Andhra Pradesh.

These units, costing Rs 2.13 crore in total, now operate at area hospitals in Narsipatnam, Tuni, and Nandigama; Mother and Child Hospital in Ongole; and district hospitals in Parvathipuram, Tenali, and Anakapalli. Full services begin January 1, 2026, after current reviews.

TIFFA scans check the fetus for issues in brain, spine, heart, limbs, and abdomen between 18-22 weeks. Previously limited to teaching hospitals, they forced remote patients to travel far or pay Rs 3,000-4,000 privately.
