Amaravati, December 10, 2025: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu tasked health officials with launching a task force of national medical experts to tackle scrub typhus after 1,592 cases surfaced across Andhra Pradesh this year.
No deaths were linked, but Chittoor district led with 420 infections, placing the state eighth nationwide. Naidu issued the directive at a Tuesday review meet, praising drops in dengue and malaria while pushing for total elimination of seasonal threats. The team will probe transmission via mites in scrubby areas and roll out community alerts on symptoms like fever and rashes.
