Amaravati, December 09, 2025: Local historian Thurimella Srinivasa Prasad and his team uncovered a 13th-century pillar inscription in Gundamcherla village, Peddaraveedu mandal, Prakasam district. The Telugu carving, dated Saka 1180 (1258 CE), stands before the Vinutala KatamaRaju temple.

It honours Kayastha chief Gangaya Sahini, a fierce cavalry leader under Kakatiya king Ganapati Deva. The text details his donation of Maraduru village and extra lands to fund temple services for deity Sringa Devara. ASI's Mysore epigraphy director Munirathnam Reddy confirmed the eulogy's focus on Gangaya's valor and administrative clout over swathes from Panugallu to Cuddapah.
