Amaravati, December 08, 2025: K. Penchalaiah, a dedicated CPI-M activist with the Praja Natya Mandali cultural wing, lost his life 10 days ago in Nellore city.

He fell to a brutal attack by ganja peddlers, who shot him in full public view after he staged awareness plays to steer local youth from drug traps. Police nabbed the suspects in a tense midnight clash, firing warning shots in self-defence, and slapped rowdy sheets plus PD Act charges on the gang.

This includes A. Kamakshi, a key figure whose six homes residents razed in a show of outrage. Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy pledged Rs 10lakhs to the victim's family's education fund and to a broad anti-drug people's drive.
