Amaravati, December 08, 2025: Andhra Pradesh logged a consistent uptick in cancer cases from 2015 to 2024, per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data tabled in Lok Sabha.

Numbers rose from 55,776 to 76,708, with yearly gains tied to bigger populations, longer lives, and sharper screenings. Urban sprawl in spots like Vizag's industrial zones and Vijayawada's busy streets amps risks via pollution and diet shifts, fueling non-communicable ills. Experts push early detection to curb the trend.

The Centre ramps up fights through 36 state NCD cells and 770 district clinics, screening oral, breast, and cervical cancers at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Andhra taps 19 new cancer institutes nationwide, plus funds like AB-PMJAY for care.
