Newsroom, December 06, 2025: Sahaja Reddy Udumala, a 24-year-old from Andhra Pradesh studying for a Master's in Albany, New York, passed away after a fierce house fire ravaged her residence on December 4.
Nearly 90% of her body suffered burns, leading to organ failure despite hospital care. Firefighters pulled four adults from the blazing home, with two airlifted to a burn centre; Sahaja did not survive. Her cousin Rathna Gopu shared that the kind-hearted student, known for her warmth, leaves a grieving family back home. The Indian Consulate in New York expressed deep sorrow and is coordinating repatriation support.
