Amaravati, December 05, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) launched the World Bank-Asian Development Bank (WB-ADB) Tech Mission on Friday, a seven-day initiative to fortify Amaravati's transformation into a sustainable smart city through hands-on training on gender-based violence safeguards, public-private partnerships, and field execution under the Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Programme (AIUDP).

The event, attended by APCRDA officials, Andhra Digital Capital Limited (ADCL), project management consultants, contractors, and specialists from the World Bank and ADB, kicked off with sessions on GBV concepts, India's legal frameworks, survivor support, and risk mitigation for sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH). "This mission is about building transparency and accountability into every brick of Amaravati," said APCRDA Vice Chairman Vinay Chandran, underscoring the commitment to best practices in urban renewal.

Day one delved into survivor-centric responses, grievance redressal mechanisms (GRM), and occupational health and safety (OHS) compliance, setting the stage for field visits and community consultations.

The program, running until December 11, will cover social audits, traffic safety, PPP pipeline preparation, and contract administration, culminating in workshops to refine Amaravati's master plan. ADB Principal Urban Development Specialist Bambang Susantono emphasised collaboration: "Andhra's coastal vision aligns with sustainable development goals; this mission bridges global expertise with local needs."
