Amaravati, December 05, 2025: Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan unveiled 77 Divisional Development Offices (DDOs) across Andhra Pradesh on Thursday, a transformative step to fortify rural governance and bridge the gap between administration and citizens in villages that shelter 70% of the state's people.

Speaking at the virtual launch from Chittoor, Kalyan described the DDOs as "vital bridges between the government and the people," ensuring quicker, transparent welfare and development services while aligning with Mahatma Gandhi's vision of self-reliant villages.

The initiative, under Government Orders 57 and 58, reorganises rural structures by abolishing 7,244 clusters and empowering 13,350 village panchayats as independent units, each staffed with a dedicated Panchayat Secretary and larger villages (over 10,000 population) getting a gazetted Panchayat Development Officer.

Kalyan hailed the simultaneous rollout as a "positive sign" for decentralized power, vowing reforms that streamline grassroots monitoring and cut bureaucratic delays. "With 70 per cent of the State’s population living in villages, the government’s priority is to deliver welfare and development services quickly, transparently, and efficiently to rural citizens," he said, crediting the 73rd Constitutional Amendment for the framework. The move also resolves long-pending issues for nearly 10,000 employees through promotions, addressing seniority stagnation and boosting morale.
