Newsroom, December 03, 2025: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad descended into pandemonium on Monday when IndiGo scrapped 31 flights, 18 arrivals and 13 departures due to crew constraints and operational glitches, leaving hundreds of passengers in limbo amid the winter travel rush.
Travellers like Shankar Narayan received abrupt email alerts for last-minute cancellations, forcing some to embark on gruelling road trips or fork out triple the fare on rival airlines. Social media erupted with tales of anguish: one Udaipur-bound passenger waited since 3 a.m., another endured repeated delays, while heated exchanges echoed through terminals as families missed meetings and holidays unravelled.
IndiGo attributed the mess to unavoidable tech and staffing hiccups, vowing alternate flights or refunds, but the airline's plea to "check status before travel" rang hollow for those already en route.
Airport authorities confirmed normal operations overall but teamed up with IndiGo to ease the strain, as fares on carriers like Air India ballooned threefold. RGIA tweeted: "Some IndiGo flights at RGIA have been impacted due to airline-related technology and operational issues... RGIA airport operations remain normal."
