Amaravati, December 03, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid out a sweeping vision to reposition the state as India's clean energy vanguard, directing officials to accelerate renewable adoption and cut electricity tariffs through innovative incentives and grid reforms.

Speaking at a high-level energy review, Naidu announced the extension of subsidies for the ferro alloy industry for another year, at a cost of Rs 1,053 crore to the exchequer, to foster green manufacturing, while approving large-scale solar installations on over 483 government buildings to generate 150 MW.

"We must minimise power costs for every citizen and industry," Naidu emphasised, mandating companies under the Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) policy to operationalise projects within 60 days, leveraging capital subsidies, GST exemptions, and nine tailored incentives to spark innovation and investment.

The roadmap extends to rooftop solar under PM-KUSUM and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, targeting 4,792 MW statewide, with free panels for SC/ST households and up to Rs 20,000 subsidies for BC consumers on systems up to 3 kW. Naidu envisioned citizens as prosumers, generating and selling surplus power to the grid for income, alongside savings of Rs 400-500 crore from inter-state swapping via the Energy Power Management System.

For mobility, APSRTC will procure 1,000 electric buses and transition its entire fleet to EVs within five years, backed by 5,000 charging stations. "Andhra will lead in pumped storage at reservoirs and fly ash utilisation from thermal plants," he added, pushing for non-tariff revenue streams to fund the green shift.
