Amaravati, December 02, 2025: Cognizant Technology Solutions is poised to cement Visakhapatnam's status as Andhra Pradesh's IT powerhouse with a groundbreaking ceremony on December 12 for its new campus near Kapuluppada, a 22.19-acre site leased from the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority at a nominal Rs 0.99 per acre.
The Rs 1,600 crore investment, the first of its scale in the region, will focus on artificial intelligence and digital services, generating 8,000 to 10,000 jobs by 2029 and drawing senior talent with state incentives like Rs 1 lakh annual reimbursements for three years.
"This positions Vizag as a top IT destination," said Andhra Pradesh Digital Technology Industry Network chairperson Sreedhar Kosaraju, noting Cognizant's interim 800-1,000 seat plug-and-play office at Mahathi Bhavan on Rushikonda Hill No. 2.
The project ranks Cognizant among Andhra's elite multinational IT players, joining Infosys, which has kicked off operations, and TCS, pending its start, in a lineup that could redefine the state's coastal economy.
An APIIC official, speaking anonymously, confirmed the allotment: "We have leased 22.19 acres to Cognizant at Rs 0.99 an acre... It is located near the VMRDA’s Haritha Housing Complex near Kapuluppada.
" The campus, part of Vizag's broader tech ecosystem, will leverage the city's port advantages and skilled workforce, with construction expected to wrap in phases over the next few years.
