Amaravati, December 02, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer urged higher education institutions to instil an "entrepreneurial and innovative culture" among students, positioning academia as the bedrock for the state's ambitious $2.4 trillion economy by 2047.

Speaking at the 7th Convocation of Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur on Saturday, Nazeer emphasised shifting from rote learning to practical skills, saying, "Universities must nurture innovators who can turn ideas into enterprises, driving self-reliance and job creation." The event, attended by over 1,000 graduates, highlighted Andhra's education reforms, with the governor conferring degrees and medals to 2,500 students.

Nazeer praised Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu's Swarna Andhra 2047 blueprint, which allocates Rs 1,000 crore for research parks and startup incubators in universities, aiming to spawn 1,000 ventures annually.

"Innovation isn't optional; it's the engine of progress," he added, calling for collaborations with industries like IT and pharma to bridge academia and employment. The convocation also featured awards for excellence in sciences and humanities, underscoring Andhra's focus on holistic development.
