Amaravati, December 02, 2025: Cyclone Ditwah has downgraded into a deep depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal, centred 170 km south-southeast of Nellore at 11:30 a.m. IST on Monday, moving slowly north at 3 kmph and expected to weaken further into a depression by Tuesday evening.
The India Meteorological Department warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati districts on December 2, with moderate to heavy showers in Kakinada, Konaseema, East and West Godavari, Eluru, Krishna, NTR, Guntur, Bapatla, Palnadu, and Rayalaseema parts. Sunday's downpours already drenched Kodavalur (38.7 mm), Nellore town (36.7 mm), and Tadala (33.5 mm), raising flash flood risks in low-lying areas.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has placed coastal regions on high alert, with no gale winds anticipated but thunderstorms and gusts up to 50 kmph possible.
Fishermen remain banned from sea ventures, and residents in vulnerable spots are advised to relocate, avoid trees, and use emergency lines like 1070 or 112. No casualties have been reported, but officials continue monitoring for disruptions to agriculture and transport.
