Amaravati, November 30, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government appointed G Sai Prasad, currently Special Chief Secretary in the Water Resources Department and Executive Officer to the Chief Minister, as the state's next Chief Secretary, effective March 1, 2026.
The order, issued Saturday, extends the service of incumbent K Vijayanand, a 1992-batch IAS officer set for retirement on November 30, 2025, until February 28, 2026, ensuring a seamless handover amid ongoing administrative reforms.
Vijayanand's extension, approved by the Centre's Department of Personnel and Training following the state's request, allows continuity in key initiatives like the Swarna Andhra 2047 vision. Sai Prasad, a 1994-batch officer known for his work on irrigation and policy execution, steps into the role as Andhra accelerates projects from capital revival to industrial hubs.
