Amaravati, November 30, 2025: Andhra Pradesh IT and Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh has mobilised state machinery to rescue seven passengers from Rapuru mandal in Nellore district, who became stranded at Colombo's Bandaranaike International Airport after their flight from Kuwait to Chennai was cancelled due to cyclone-related chaos.

The group, comprising pilgrims returning home, faced uncertainty amid Sri Lanka's severe weather disruptions, prompting them to share a desperate video appeal on social media for government intervention.

Lokesh, responding promptly to the viral clip, instructed his office to liaise immediately with Sri Lankan authorities and Chennai airport officials to arrange alternative flights, accommodation, and essentials like food and medical aid. "I have taken note of this worrying situation.

Requesting @OfficeOfNL to immediately coordinate with the authorities in Colombo and Chennai and ensure that our stranded passengers from Nellore receive all necessary support and are brought home safely at the earliest," he posted on X, underscoring Andhra's commitment to its citizens abroad.
