Amaravati, November 30, 2025: Cyclone Ditwah, intensifying over the southwest Bay of Bengal near northern Sri Lanka, is barreling toward the Andhra Pradesh coast, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue warnings for heavy to very heavy rainfall in several districts starting Sunday.

Centred 120 km from Karaikal and 330 km from Chennai, the system advanced 10 kmph northward in the last six hours and is expected to continue on a north-northwest trajectory, approaching north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and south coastal Andhra by early Sunday.

Heavy to very heavy showers are likely in Prakasam, Nellore, Sri Sathya Sai, Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor, and Tirupati districts on Sunday, escalating to extremely heavy falls in Prakasam and Nellore on Monday, with spillover into Krishna, Guntur, and Bapatla.

Moderate to heavy rain is also forecast for Eluru, NTR, Palnadu, and other areas, accompanied by squally winds of 45-65 kmph along the south coast, gusting to 60-80 kmph.
