Amaravati, November 28, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu assured farmers that the government will procure maize at the minimum support price without delay to prevent distress sales and ensure fair returns, directing poultry firms, seed companies, pharmaceutical units, and traders to ramp up purchases without slashing rates or volumes.

"We are taking all priority steps to protect farmers from any losses," Atchannaidu said at a review meeting, highlighting preparations for a major stakeholders' summit to smooth the process. The state, with maize sown over 1.42 lakh hectare is yielding an estimated 8.18 lakh metric tonnes, plans to buy 25% or 2.05 lakh tonnes, proposing Rs 7,630 crore from the central Price Stabilisation Fund via AP Markfed.

A pilot market-linkage project in Nandyal, backed by AP Markfed, FarMart, and IFC, offers logistics, storage, digital tracking, and financing to bridge growers and buyers. Proposals for MSP procurement under Kharif-2025 have been forwarded to the Centre, with state finance department funding requests in motion.
