Amaravati, November 27, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID) has transferred the high-profile probe into the alleged theft of Parakamani collections at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams from its Tirupati base to Vijayawada headquarters, citing relentless media interference that nearly broadcast live interrogations of key figures.
Additional Director General of Police Ravi Shankar Ayyanar, leading the Special Investigation Team, explained the move as essential to maintain confidentiality and comply with Andhra Pradesh High Court directives, noting that "certain electronic media channels showed over-enthusiasm" during Tuesday's questioning of former TTD Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy.
The shift allows for centralised operations, with teams visiting Tirupati only for specific needs, such as questioning court staff on the Lok Adalat mediation process that allegedly facilitated the registration of stolen funds as temple donations.
