Amaravati, November 27, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) has inked a landmark memorandum of understanding with the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) to build the "Cosmos Planetarium" in Amaravati, transforming the emerging capital into a hub for scientific wonder and youth empowerment.

The agreement, to be formalised on November 28 during the foundation-laying of key banking headquarters, will feature cutting-edge 3D dome projection technology, immersing visitors in explorations of the universe, planets, stars, and galaxies. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other dignitaries will attend the signing, underscoring the project's alignment with Andhra's vision for a knowledge-driven future.

The planetarium aims to ignite curiosity among students, offering visual journeys through cosmic phenomena to demystify astronomy and nurture aspirations in space sciences. "This will give our youth a clear window to the stars, fostering the next generation of innovators," Naidu said, envisioning it as a cornerstone of Amaravati's educational ecosystem. IIA's expertise in astrophysics will guide the design, ensuring interactive exhibits that bridge classroom learning with real-world discovery.
