Amaravati, November 26, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh Airports Development Corporation has launched the detailed project report process for the proposed Ongole greenfield airport, with a Kolkata-based private agency team conducting an initial land survey in Alluru and Aaluru villages near Kothapatnam on the Ongole-Kothapatnam road.

The experts Paramita Roy, Anindita Roy, and Bhattacharya arrived Monday to inspect the 1,086-acre site, previously identified for the VANPIC project, and gather field data, including interactions with villagers at the Alluru secretariat.

They also coordinated with Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy over land acquisition specifics, marking the first on-ground step after a preliminary feasibility study.

The airport, aimed at easing pressure on Vijayawada and Rajahmundry hubs, will span about 700 acres initially, boosting connectivity for Prakasam district's 1.5 million residents and its burgeoning industrial corridor. Officials expect the DPR to outline infrastructure needs, environmental impacts, and funding models, with completion targeted for early 2026 to fast-track approvals.
