Amaravati, November 26, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has greenlit the formation of three new districts, Polavaram, Markapuram, and Madanapalle, elevating the state's tally from 26 to 29, based on recommendations from a Group of Ministers tasked with administrative reorganisation.
The decision, pending Cabinet ratification, aims to enhance service delivery and development in underserved regions, with notifications expected soon. Polavaram, with 3.49 lakh residents, will have its headquarters at Rampachodavaram, incorporating mandals from Rampachodavaram and Chinturu revenue divisions such as Devipatnam, Y Ramavaram, Gurtedu, Addateegala, Gangavaram, Maredumilli, Rajavommangi, Yetapaka, Kunavaram, and Vara Ramachandrapuram.
Markapuram and Madanapalle will follow similar bifurcation models to streamline local administration, addressing long-standing demands for decentralisation.
Complementing this, five new revenue divisions, Nakkapalli in Anakapalli, Addanki in Prakasam, Pileru in Madanapalle, Banaganapalle in Nandyal, and Madakasira in Sri Sathya Sai, will be established, alongside the creation of Pedda Harivanam mandal by splitting Adoni in Kurnool.
These changes are projected to improve access to government services, reduce travel burdens, and spur targeted growth in rural pockets.
