Amaravati, November 26, 2025: Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu called on farmers to remain vigilant as a deep depression over the South Andaman Sea is poised to strengthen into a severe cyclone within 48 hours, moving west-northwest across the Bay of Bengal.

The system, under favourable conditions, threatens significant impacts on Rayalaseema and North Coastal Andhra, where standing crops like paddy are vulnerable to heavy rains and winds. Atchannaidu directed district officials to ramp up preparedness, including village visits by field officers to guide protective steps for harvested produce and livestock.

The minister emphasised the immediate relocation of stored paddy to safe spots, with the government distributing free tarpaulin sheets to shield yields from downpours.

Continuous weather bulletins will keep growers informed, while disaster teams stand ready to minimise losses during this key farming phase. Fishermen have been warned to stay ashore, with those at sea urged to return promptly.
