Amaravati, November 25, 2025: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to lay foundation stones for office buildings of major national banking institutions in Amaravati on November 28 at the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority office on Seed Access Road, a pivotal move in the state's efforts to breathe new life into its stalled capital project.

The event will mark the official start for NABARD on one acre in Uddandarayunipalem, State Bank of India on three acres across Lingayapalem and Uddandarayunipalem, Reserve Bank of India on about four acres, and smaller plots for Bank of India, Indian Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Union Bank of India (0.40 acres each in nearby survey numbers), alongside Andhra Pradesh Grameena Bank's Amaravati office.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who will join Sitharaman, has urged the institutions to accelerate construction and begin operations from the capital without delay, viewing the simultaneous launches as a "cornerstone" for establishing Amaravati as a vibrant financial centre.

K.R.V. Jaya Kumar, secretary of the All India Officers Confederation's Andhra Pradesh chapter, affirmed that the banks are committed to meeting the timelines assured to Naidu, reflecting confidence in the government's renewed push for the project after years of uncertainty.
