Amaravati, November 25, 2025: Several Muslim organisations in Andhra Pradesh have appealed to the Waqf Board for an extension of the November 30 deadline to register properties on the UMEED portal, citing technical glitches and awareness gaps that have left many of the state's 1.5 lakh Waqf assets unlisted.
The Unified Management of Endowments and Donations (UMEED) system, launched earlier this year, aims to digitise records for transparency and dispute resolution, but groups like the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and local committees report challenges in rural areas where internet access is spotty and training is limited.
The board, overseeing assets worth Rs 5,000 crore, has already processed 50,000 entries, but fears non-compliance could lead to forfeitures under the 2024 Waqf Act amendments. A delegation met board secretary Mohammed Basha to request a three-month buffer, emphasizing the need for workshops in coastal districts.
