Amaravati, November 25, 2025: Andhra Pradesh's paddy procurement drive has gained momentum, targeting a historic 51 lakh metric tonnes for the 2025-26 Kharif season, with Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar announcing that the process is unfolding in a festive spirit across the state.

In East Godavari district, 1.35 lakh tonnes have already been bought, with Rs 4,000 crore transferred to farmers' accounts within four to five hours, and plans in place to acquire a total of 4 lakh tonnes there. The coalition government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, has introduced reforms to instill confidence among cultivators, including upgraded farmer service centers equipped with trained staff and modern machinery for accurate moisture checks.

Minister Manohar, alongside Kandula Durgesh and Kovvur MLA Muppidi Venkateswara Rao, inspected fields to reassure growers that logistical hurdles like transport and gunny bags will be swiftly resolved.

To counter rain concerns expected after November 28-29, free tarpaulins have been distributed, and drying spaces arranged on government and private lands. The initiative aims to prevent crop losses and ensure timely payments, marking a milestone in farmer support.
