Amaravati, November 24, 2025: A no-confidence motion against Nellore Municipal Corporation Mayor Potluri Sravanthi, a YSRCP loyalist, is hurtling toward success, with the NDA coalition poised to submit signatures Monday to the district collector and force a leadership transition within two weeks.
The 54-member council, where TDP holds 41 seats, has seen Sravanthi's repeated bids to reconcile with her erstwhile mentor and now-TDP MLA Sridhar Reddy after his 2023 switch from YSRCP fall flat, compounded by her overtures to BJP and Jana Sena amid the 2024 NDA takeover.
Municipal Administration Minister and Nellore City MLA P. Narayana met Reddy on Sunday alongside deputy mayors and senior corporators to seal the strategy, signalling a calculated move to consolidate NDA control.
Sridhar Reddy dismissed any hurdles, stating the TDP's numerical strength ensures a smooth passage. "The TDP has 41 corporators in the 54-member council, so the move should sail through smoothly," he said. The resolution could expand divisions to 71, reshaping local governance in this coastal hub.
