Newsroom, November 09, 2025: Bollywood legend Dharmendra Deol, the rugged action hero known as the "He-Man" of Indian cinema, passed away at his Bandra residence on Saturday morning at the age of 89, leaving behind a legacy of over 300 films that defined an era of mass entertainment.
The cause was cardiac arrest following a brief illness, confirmed by family sources; he is survived by sons Sunny and Bobby Deol, daughters Esha and Ahana Deol, and wife Hema Malini. Dharmendra, born Dharam Singh Deol in Punjab's Sahnewal village in 1935, rose from a small-town dreamer to a 1960s sensation with films like Phool Aur Patthar, blending raw charisma with romantic flair in hits like Sholay and Chupke Chupke.
Dharmendra's career spanned six decades, evolving from romantic leads to action icons, with a National Award for Best Actor for Paigham and a Filmfare Lifetime Achievement in 1999. His off-screen life, marked by two marriages and family feuds, added to his larger-than-life persona.
