Newsroom, November 20, 2025: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau has moved to secure a sanction for prosecuting BRS working president K T Rama Rao in the Formula E racing case, alleging misuse of authority during his tenure as municipal administration minister.

The ACB claims irregularities in the awarding of the Hyderabad E-Prix contract without cabinet approval, resulting in a Rs 55 crore loss to the exchequer through payments to Formula E Operations, despite the event's cancellation in January 2024.

Investigators say KTR bypassed norms by routing funds via HMDA without tenders or due diligence, favouring a private firm. The bureau has already filed a chargesheet against six officials, including former HMDA chief Arvind Kumar. KTR dismissed the probe as "political vendetta," vowing to fight legally.
