Newsroom, November 18, 2025: Hyderabad cybercrime police arrested the mastermind behind iBomma, a notorious piracy platform leaking Telugu films, during a coordinated operation in Malaysia that dismantled servers and seized assets worth crores.
The suspect, who evaded capture for years, was tracked after tip-offs on his lavish lifestyle funded by ad revenue from illegal streams, with the site causing estimated losses of Rs 2,000 crore to Tollywood since 2020.
The breakthrough revealed embarrassing lapses at a senior DCP's office, where the accused allegedly walked free during questioning due to procedural oversights, prompting internal reviews. Police also rounded up local accomplices in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
