Newsroom, November 17, 2025: A devastating collision between a bus carrying Indian pilgrims and a diesel tanker on the Medina highway in Saudi Arabia has left over 40 dead, with most victims hailing from Hyderabad and surrounding areas in Telangana.
The accident occurred early Saturday when the tanker, travelling in the opposite direction, swerved into the bus's lane, igniting a fireball that engulfed the vehicle and scattered debris across the road. Of the 60 passengers bound for the Prophet's mosque, 42 were confirmed fatalities, including women and children, with 15 survivors airlifted to Riyadh hospitals for burns and fractures.
Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed grief, deploying officials to assist families and coordinate with Saudi authorities for repatriation.
