Newsroom, November 09, 2025: India is actively pursuing free trade agreements with the United States, European Union, New Zealand, Oman, Peru, and Chile, alongside interest from additional countries eager to launch negotiations, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced at the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.
"We are currently negotiating with the EU, US, Oman, New Zealand, Chile and Peru and many more want us to start negotiations," Goyal said, emphasising the need to dismantle barriers for smoother movement of goods, services, and capital in a protectionist world. The efforts follow successful pacts with the UAE, Australia, and the four-country European bloc EFTA, which have already boosted bilateral flows.
Goyal also spotlighted domestic reforms, including the removal of 42,000 compliances and abolition of 1,500 laws to ease business operations, while proposing enhanced two-way investments and technology sharing for lasting ties.
