Newsroom, November 13, 2025: Cheteshwar Pujara believes Shubman Gill's greatest test as India Test captain will lie in swiftly toggling between formats, a mental grind that demands patience and tactical pivots despite the young opener's light physical load.

"In Test cricket, you need temperament, patience and you also need to change your game plan according to the format and to do that very quickly is always challenging for any top class player," Pujara said, noting Gill's recent ODI leadership in Australia and T20 duties before facing South Africa in Kolkata on November 14.

Pujara remains upbeat about Gill's maturity at 26, crediting India's recent Test wins abroad for building confidence against a formidable Proteas attack. "Someone like him, who is young, maturing quickly, and already leading the team well, I'm sure will respond positively," he added.
