Newsroom, November 09, 2025: Aram Thinai, an organisation dedicated to climate-resilient food systems, is launching a monthly organic farmers' market in Chennai's T. Nagar on November 9 at C.D. Nayagam Higher Secondary School, every second Sunday thereafter.
Expect 20-30 stalls from local growers and women's collectives offering 20+ greens varieties, 10 traditional rice types, organic staples, ready-to-eat meals, and sustainable bites in a 'farm-to-table' vibe that encourages chats with producers.
Zero-plastic policy means bring your own bags and containers, with kickoff events like a 10:30 a.m. mandala workshop led by transgender activist Grace Banu, alongside Ananthoo and school secretary Shanmugam.
Inspired by the Kilpauk market's 1,000 weekly visitors (now at MCTM School), it prioritizes farmer earnings and consumer education over sales, fostering eco-awareness.
