Newsroom, November 05, 2025: Hyderabad secured the fourth spot and Vijayawada the tenth in a global ranking of fastest-growing cities from 2019 to 2035, according to Oxford Economics' latest analysis, with all top 10 positions claimed by Indian urban centres, largely tier 2 and tier 3 locations.
Hyderabad is forecast to expand at 8.2% annually, reaching a $201.4 billion GDP by 2035, establishing itself as a major international commerce hub. Vijayawada mirrors this pace at 8.2%, ballooning from $5.6 billion in 2018 to $21.3 billion by 2035, thanks to Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure surge and investment influx.
The trend underscores India's shift toward smaller cities as engines of progress, bypassing traditional metros and spotlighting Telugu states' momentum. Experts credit policy reforms and connectivity for the rise, signalling a new era of balanced regional development.
