Newsroom, November 03, 2025: A 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan Tuesday morning, sending tremors through the capital Kabul and nearby provinces like Badakhshan and Takhar, where the epicentre lay 200 kilometres northeast at a shallow 10-kilometre depth.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake at 5:58 a.m. local time, with no immediate reports of casualties or widespread destruction, though buildings swayed in Kabul, prompting brief evacuations and aftershock alerts.

Afghanistan's disaster management ministry confirmed the event and urged caution in fragile structures, while the Taliban government downplayed risks in the rugged terrain prone to seismic activity.
