Most-wanted criminal with 47 cases arrested in Sri Satya Sai district

Amaravati, June 22, 2025: Puttaparthi police in Sri Satya Sai district have apprehended Morimishetty Pandu, a 43-year-old serial offender wanted in 47 criminal cases across nine states, including 29 in Andhra Pradesh, eight in Uttar Pradesh, and four in Karnataka. The arrest, made near a lodge in Koppal, Karnataka, on Monday, stems from a land dispute attack on June 7 in Kothacheruvu mandal, where Pandu, alongside his brother and YSRCP leader Dal Mill Suri, allegedly led an assault injuring nine people, including two women. Puttaparthi Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar revealed that Pandu, previously incarcerated in Tihar and Parappana Agrahara prisons for financial crimes and NIA-related cases, had been evading capture since the incident. Operating under aliases, Pandu and Suri allegedly orchestrated large-scale frauds through shell companies and sugar and rice trading scams, amassing crores. Superintendent of Police V. Ratna, who led the crackdown, warned that rowdy sheeters meddling in land disputes would face strict action. Suri and his wife Mahalakshmi remain at large, with police intensifying efforts to apprehend them. The arrest has sparked widespread discussion in Sri Satya Sai district.
