Amaravati, June 21, 2025: Cognizant Technology Solutions, a leading global IT firm, will invest ₹1,583 crore to establish a state-of-the-art IT and ITES campus in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, as part of the state’s IT & GCC Policy 4.0. The project, set to generate 8,000 direct jobs by 2033, marks a significant boost to the state’s ambition to transform Visakhapatnam into a global IT hub. The Andhra Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, has allotted 21.3 acres of land at Kapuluppada under the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) for a nominal lease rate of 99 paisa per acre, a strategic incentive to attract major IT investments. IT Minister Nara Lokesh, who spearheaded discussions with Cognizant’s CEO S. Ravi Kumar at the World Economic Forum in Davos, hailed the investment as a milestone in positioning Visakhapatnam as Andhra Pradesh’s IT capital. The self-funded project, slated to commence operations by March 2029, aligns with the state’s vision of fostering a robust IT ecosystem through infrastructure development and skill enhancement. The policy aims to attract Fortune 500 firms, promote innovation, and create sustainable job opportunities, with each IT job expected to generate four indirect jobs. This follows a similar land allotment to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) earlier this year, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s aggressive push for tech-driven economic growth.
