Amaravati, June 19, 2025: The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the Techno-Economic Feasibility Report (TEFR) study for proposed greenfield airports at Ongole and Nagarjunasagar, Infrastructure and Investment Minister Janardhan Reddy announced on Thursday. The AP Airports Development Corporation Limited (APADCL) will manage the selection of consultants to prepare the TEFR, ensuring a detailed assessment of the projects’ viability.Reddy stated that district collectors have earmarked suitable land for the airports, with the Airports Authority of India (AAI) completing initial feasibility studies. Additionally, the government has authorized tenders for consultants to draft the TEFR for the proposed Amaravati International Airport, reflecting a strong focus on aviation infrastructure.In a press release, Reddy highlighted the state’s priority to develop infrastructure, including roads, seaports, and airports, in line with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s goal of establishing 20 seaports and fishing harbors and 14 airports. Ongoing projects include runway and safety upgrades at Kuppam, costing ₹36 crore, and a ₹4.4 crore taxiway for a flight training organization.A reconstituted 12-member technical evaluation committee will oversee the selection of consultants and developers for various airport projects, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and economic growth through infrastructure.
