Ahmedabad primed for 2030 Commonwealth Games spotlight

Amaravati, October 16, 2025:

The Commonwealth Games Federation's Executive Board has endorsed Ahmedabad as host for the 2030 edition, a milestone Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya hailed as "a massive boost for Indian athletics." The decision follows Mumbai's withdrawal, with Gujarat stepping up to showcase its world-class venues for 15 disciplines, including cricket's return and full para-sports integration, targeting 4,000 athletes from 72 nations.

Mandaviya, fresh from a London meeting with CGF President Dame Louise Martin, credited the state's infrastructure readiness and commitment to inclusivity for women and disabled competitors.

Final approval awaits on November 26, promising a legacy of empowerment through sports excellence.
