Sahil Kochhar sculpts metallic ode for Carl Lewis runway

Amaravati, October 16, 2025:
Couturier Sahil Kochhar crafted a striking all-black ensemble for track legend Carl Lewis, the nine-time Olympic gold medalist, to headline the 20th Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon celebration at Le Méridien in New Delhi about two months ago. Dubbed "The Halo of Endurance," the fitted coat and trousers blend matka silk from Bhagalpur and Banaras with UK-sourced wool-viscose, accented by golden brass wires forming a harness that evokes the Sudarshan Chakra symbolising breakthrough amid adversity.
Kochhar, whose Noida-based brand has outposts in Delhi and Hyderabad with a Mumbai expansion planned, called it a "manifesto of motion," mirroring runners' battles against doubt and fatigue. The piece marks his bold foray into brass appliqué, evolving from earlier embroidery experiments five years back. "For the athlete of the century, it had to feel grand," Kochhar reflected, tying the design's humility and shine to Lewis's storied legacy.
